Danan Hughes named Honorary Chairman

Danan Hughes, a former Kansas City Chief and current Big 10 Network broadcaster for college football and baseball, will serve as the honorary chair of the 41st Annual HK’s Hospital Benefit Golf Tournament, scheduled June 8 and 9 at The Lodge of Four Seasons.

Hughes played for the Kansas City Chiefs from 1993 to 1998 as a wide receiver and special teams player. The 1993 team, led by Joe Montana, was the last Chiefs team to appear in an AFC Championship game until 2019. Before going pro in football, Hughes was a professional baseball player, playing one summer for the Milwaukee Brewers minor league team. Since retiring, Hughes has created a successful broadcasting career. He is a TV and radio broadcaster for the Big 10 Network, covering college football and baseball. He also covers college football and basketball for ESPN3. And he does the Chiefs pre- and post-game shows at Arrowhead Stadium. Plus, he is a Chiefs Ambassador, a group that has long supported the HK’s Hospital Benefit Golf Tournament.

Fans can meet Hughes at the HK’s Pairing Party and Live Auction, Saturday, June 8, in Campana Hall at The Lodge of Four Seasons. Doors open at 6 p.m., and tickets are $25 for the public.

Sunday, June 9, is the golf tournament, held at The Cove Golf Course. The Cove, the Lodge’s signature course, was designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones Sr. The 18-hole, par-71 championship course challenges guests with its rolling greens, 65 bunkers and signature hole 4. The tournament will feature several closest-to-the-hole and hole-in-one prizes, as well as two putting contests. Flights are scheduled in the morning and afternoon.

Registration is $295 per golfer and includes a $100 Callaway gift card; on-course refreshments; and two tickets to Saturday evening’s Pairing Party and Live Auction. New this year, registered golfers are invited to participate in a golf clinic and demonstration at The Club at Porto Cima on Saturday, June 8.

There are more than a dozen sponsorship packages available, from a comprehensive Gold Sponsorship package with VIP benefits and recognition throughout the weekend to hole sponsorships that come with two tickets to the Pairing Party event and tee box signage.

All proceeds from the 2019 tournament will benefit Lake Regional Cancer Services. Learn more about Lake Regional Cancer Services at lakeregional.com/CancerCare.
